Im not sure about death adders but with almost all snakes the only sure firs way is to probe them. Tails are usualy more elongated and this on males, short and fat on females but you cant use that as a means of determining.
The only species I have ever worked with that you could visualy tell them apart was Agkistrodon taylori. Males and females have a different pattern and coloration.
Some tree vipers are easily sexed as adults but not as babies. Most adult female tree vipers are somtimes double or even tripple the size of the males.

I don't think you can reliably sex death adders visually, especially small one. Both sexes have relatively long tails.

Thanks for filling out your profile.
It seems to be the opposite of the norm when sexing DA's I've been told. Males seem to have short tails and females the longer one...
I have one to sex in a few days. I'll take a picture and everybody can add their 2 cents. I'll probe it and give the answer.

Death adders are easy to sex, males have much longer tails than females. Dead set easy if you have one of each to compare. Once you get a handle on the difference, you can do any specimen no worries.
Cheers
