I have a question about anxiety and painic. does anxiety/panic play a roll in envenomation cases? I would think that a person that is in a state of panic, there heart rate would rise there fore spreading the venom more. Kind of like the saying dont run if you have been bitten it will only make it worse.
Also on a peronal level I have been suffering from Anxiety/Panic disorder for sometime. Would the medications that I or anyone that has the same problem, interact with the venom. Like CNS depressant drugs, like Valium, Xanax, and Adivan. Also other drugs like the various SSRI's. Would the Med's Increase the nerotoxic effects in bites like with most Elapids.

yeah the faster you move, the faster youre blood pumps, therefore spreading the venom through your body faster. i would guess panicing would increase the flow of venom as well because you tend to move pretty fast when your panicing lol. thats why most of the snake bite first aid papers and articles say to keep the victim as calm as possible.
sorry i cant answer your question about the meds reacting with the venom although i would think it would at least be a possibility.

Yes, panic will spread the venom. No, the benzodiazepines you mentioned will not make neurotoxic effects worse, or interact with the venom in any way.

I can't find the reference for this but I have heard about people dying from panic attacks after getting bitten by non-venomous snakes.
