i'm going to try and raise funds to go on a research trip to the galopagos islands, do you guys know if there are any grants or programs in florida to help out with the $3000 price tag? all comments appreciated. thanks

Chris, the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles, ( SSAR ) has a Grants in Herpetology Program, that awards $500.00 to each of about ten students each year.
You can go to the site below for more information on what grants have been awarded for in the past, which will give you a good idea on how to structure a grant proposal, and to download an application form.
The catch is that you have to be a member of the SSAR, which any serious Herpetologist should be a member of anyway. The other problem, is you would be competing against a lot of students, including college level. However, your younger age and enthusiasm might work to your advantage if you present a professional looking research proposal.
