I never said you had to have it in hand. I said you have to have acsess. To say it cost a ton of money to get, compareig it to a house payment is an idiodic statment. it does not cost that much to get permits for South African polyvalent and the AV its self is much more affordable then domestic ones like Crofab. The permits are just a royale pain in the ass, very time consumeing and you need medical profesionals to sign off on it. Its not a several thousand dollar investment as you are trying to play it off as.
Making that statment leads me to belive you have never seriously look into it.
Im sorry but you have no justification not to have acsess to AV. Even exotics with no specific AV can have other AV which may nuetrlize the effects. atheris is a good example. Welcome to the wonderfull world of echis AV. Others your kinda sol but aside from tree cobras and water cobras there arent many commonly lethal species that do not have an AV manufactured for it.
Your rational on this topic is exactly the kind that gives our hobby a bad name (well yours, I dont keep venomous anymore). You are relying simply on zoos and the Mamai Dade AV unit to save your life which is a scummy thing to do. You should cover your own ass and your not so yes, you are being irresponsible for keeping exotics without acsess to AV. Plain and simple.

In addition, its as easy as finding out if any keepers near you do have acsess to AV, making a good impresion and then asking if you can split the cost of the shipment in exchange for giving you acsess to the supply. Wow, thats realy hard to do, Well, maybe hard if your not good at making friends, a thing I was always pretty good at.
Another option is moving to florida and contacting the Miami Dade AV unit to see how the manage their AV supply.
Seriously, dont come here trying to justify your lack of responsiblity by making statments about others not keeping it either. If somone walked off a cliff would you?

Last but not least, Youngherp, why in the hell are you tailing an arboreal?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?! Two hooks at all times! There is no reason to tail (A squam? The picture is kinda hard to make out)any arboreal viper or pitviper ever!! Ever!

Well i see you gave up on the snake proof room b.s. and as i said in a perfect world we would all have anti venom. As far as atheris goes and echis anti venom your site says may work or help not a proven fact as of yet. So could be a good investment or good be a big waste of money and time. Not a gamble i need. And anti venom is hard to get and does cost alot compared to the snakes or nething else in the hobby. And it goes out of date after so long so it is an investment. But you can be as die hard on the subject as you like, this will be a never ending arguement as it always has been. I've to several experts on both sides of the debate and the realistic ones says that either way it's up to the keeper and not anyone else's choice to criticise. So you do as you please and i'll do as i please. I'm sure that you could be criticized on your choices and procedures by someone else just as easily as any of the rest of us so hopefully we won't have to argue about this forever.

How do you see that i gave up on the snake proof room bullshit. Until you see the damn room, you DONT no what your talking about. Lucky wanted to start a contriversy on "underage keepers". I didnt say that just becasue adults dont have AV i wont have it. Holy shit if you would just read the post instead of skimmy and picking out the small shit you can further critize about. Thats all he wanted to do its start something on young keepers and he did. So shut the hell up and DROP it. Unless you meet me in real life or my parent, or see the room. Stay out of my business. Most of you are just trying to save your ass's. If i get bit or w/e and the pass new laws permitting not to have hotts, you all will be shit out of like, as will i. So jsut drop all this shit. You all have done stupid shit in your life and probably with hotts. Drop it, im done move on. Alls this is doing is critizing . Im sure most of the people that visit this site isnt likeing all this shit at all. Thats all im saying is drop it. and the "Alcatraz" is just a metaphore. i no people escaped. But it is the most secure prisn.

Your arument is flawed. You just said you have heard experts on both sides? Im sorry but anyone who does not preach the need for AV is hardly worthy of the title expert.
Oh and as for expensive, I think alot of African and Asian AV were 20-80 dollars a vile. Not that big of an investment of your serious about this which you should be.
Regarding Echis AV, it has been shown to neutrlize in atleast one case I belive. I will look for the actual document before saying it as gosible though.
Oh and as far as shelf life is concerned, you do know that experation dates are put on everything. AV is good up to 6 yrs after the experation date!! The company puts an experation date to cover their asses. If your going for permits and working with a Doctor he will back you up on this and use it to administer to you if you get bit.
Again, you make no vaild points at all. you are simply stateing your opinion. You could say I am doing the same but how can your argue not having AV when keeping snakes isnt a very good idea? How can you?
Im sorry but your not coming off as a very respected member of this comunity. I dont know you at all but first impression are everything. Im sure mine is of an elitist asshole but oh well, ive been called worse.

youngherp1 i was talking to atrox about seeing that he had dropped the snake proof room stuff not you. i was trying to help. The alcatraz escapees thing was pretty lame. So don't think im jumping you. You are getting a little too excited at every comment. You can see that atrox and i have been arguing and it doesn't bother me a all. I take him with a grain of sand and hopefully he's doin the same. Though i think the elitest thing he hit the nail on the head....lol

And as far as comming out as a respected memeber of this site, just becaue im sticking up for myslelf when lucky starts some shit and doesnt ever reply. I no for a fact you would be defending yourself. AS I SAID BEFORE. Just because if this post people look at me as not respecting me. I dont care if anyone rely respects me. Im here to learn not critize like some people on here. Just read my posts about this stupid ass topic, i dont feel like typing all over again.
