You know it and I know it, I'm about the last person to write a Care Sheet on African Forest Cobras. But no one else is gonna do it and I've been asking for one so I'll just fabricate one! I'll take your words if I can find them and put them in it. If not I'll just substitute Tasmanian Devil care, which I also know nothing about.

Is there anything in particular that you need to know that is not covered here? (The very first match that comes up on yahoo if you search for "Forest Cobra")

Hey Larry, that looks like a fairly complete species account. Richard probably put quite a bit of time into researching it.
Michael, feel free to write whatever you want. All species accounts that we have published (either in newsletters or online) have been reviewed for accuracy and legibility. I would be happy to review your care sheet. As for your assertion that all the experts are busy, I believe that we already established that almost no-one actually is keeping forest cobras because they are so difficult to deal with.

Oh I know it.
I have a Care Sheet written already as a matter of fact. Its a Version One that is pretty clear about the fact that no one should be keeping them. It has a picture taken out of the Photo Album taken by Scott Eipper (Blacksnake). And it also has care facts and opinions stated the way they are by the people who said them in a way that also makes it clear that people should not be keeping them. It is a rather Over-The-Top version that makes me laugh because it takes what I was told (no one should keep it) and kinda exaggerates things just a bit and combines it with the grim facts leading up to the probable death of someone trying to keep one unprepared for envenomation. Sort of a gallows humor I think they call it. At the end of the "care sheet" are all of the quotes I stole out of. I don't think I took things out of context, at least I didn't mean to. Anyway, it obviously isn't a real Care Sheet in the form its in now but I'd sure like to show it to people so maybe they can laugh at something that is hard to laugh at. Its in Word format and is 512K.

Okay, I uploaded the file to the Care Sheets space for lack of anywhere else to put it. I made it clear in the description that its not meant to be taken seriously. How you guys will get the file I'm not sure. I wonder if it could be put in the Photo Album temporarily until people download it. I don't know how many people would want to look at it besides the people quoted, the photographer, and people who want to correct the info on the care sheet.

Karl and others from the SHHS board and forum moderators, it sure would be nice to get this website back to a time when experienced professionals would frequent this place. Now, it's overrun with idiots, amateurs, and folks who just continue to give this hobby a black eye and I can see why many laugh at us...it's too bad. Some just come here to be a prick. This whole thread from "rabbit boy" or whoever is ridiculous. We've made it clear that there are folks who are happy to provide detailed husbandry information if a specific question is asked. What the heck is so difficult to comprehend about that? Why does there have to be a "husbandry care sheet" for every hot species? Good golly, I'm finding myself getting further away from this site....it's becoming a place for young kids to hang out and pretend like they know something about keeping venomous herps. I realize it's impossible to monitor but it sure would be nice to have a minimum age requirement. So, fire away young people....lets hear those rants! I've got a pacifier ready....don't fret, though, I'll be gone for a while.

Perhaps I was not clear.
This is not a humor site and I do not intend to put up a care sheet that is not intended to give accurate care information.
If somewhere along the line I have failed to come across as a serious keeper who is strictly interested in the SAFE husbandry and SAFE keeping practices of other people involved with venomous reptiles, then I apologize for that.
As soon as I can get to a computer that has the programs on it to review your care sheet, I will review it but I will not be uploading it if it is as you say "gallows humor".
Also, for future reference, you may not use anyone's photos without their express permission - even those found on this site.

as for the care sheets, i had posted that to maybe put on the site. i hope you weren't reffereing to me, rob... i've been on this site for awhile, and have alot of experience.. i intended to possibly make a book(kinda) to sell at shows, and give the procedes to shhs.
as for the new people- we've seen it alot. it happens all the time- a young guy comes on, gets flamed for being an idiot, and gets pissed. its so damn annoying. maybe we should just ignore the kids for now on.. thats my idea. as for an age limit, i'm not sure that will work. its a damn good idea, though!
i'm sure with karl being retired(congrats by the way), we will see the site cleaned up more.
oh yeah, thanks rob for the offer on caresheets before. would love to come up and check out the site!

This was originally set up to be a community website with community input. It's whatever the community makes it. The site managers are merely here to provide structure.
For a long time a handful of people did 90% of the work, then we got too busy with other things. Some started their own websites.
EVENTUALLY, I will be able to tell everyone what I have been working on, but it's just too politically sensitive and HUGE to muck with right now. Meanwhile, no one submits articles, particularly the qualified people. I couldn't explain why that is however. The site will remain up until it becomes too stale or some fresh meat shows up to revive it.
