Is there a way to tell if a cobra is truely a venomoid. There are no surgical scars visible. I cannot take him to a vet...if you know what I mean.

Russell, it is probably best to assume that any ``Venomoid`` snake still has the ability to produce and deliver venom. After all, you are trusting your life to the surgical skills of some unknown vet, or hack, or ameture surgeon. Peharps they botched the procedure?
I guess you could allow the snake to bite a large rodent, and then remove it from the snake, and see if the venom kills the rodent. If the rodent dies, then there is probably venom still being delivered. If it does not die, it could still be a dry bite, so you will still not know if the ability to deliver venom has been removed or not. At least this would give you a 50% level of knowledge, which is better than nothing.
Hope this helps.

Yes, there is. It's simple, don't buy a venomoid and you won't have to worry about it. Or, get rid of the one you have, and you won't have to worry about that either.
