Hello, everybody. I'd like to know which are the newest most effective brands, names or drugs (preferably the name of the active component) for treatment of reptile ailments and diseases (respiratory, parasitic, wounds, blister, etc.) you have used lately, if any I'd like to be actualized on it, 'cos I'm standing for a job as a reptile consultant for a pet trader, and such info would be of great help. THANKS TO ALL!!

I don't like to give this kind of advice on a public forum (since I am not a licesed vet) but would happy to take this off line and talk to you about some of our treatment methods and what medications work best. Take care, Rob

Hi Viperlady, I bought a tortoise with a respiratory infection. Vet gave him 2 shots of Cipro and it cleared it right up. Same drug used to treat Anthrax. Just ask your local vet what they think is best for your reptile ailments. Bryan

Thanks guys. You're always of great help.
Just to mention it, Bryan... belive me, vets in my country are completely uneducated about reptiles. Imagine this, once I assisted the necropsy of a Pituophis deppei and the vet was looking for the second lung, haha...lol... can you belive that? and he didn't even know what the pancreas was...
This question was made specially because, though I'm not a licensed vet, but mostly a biologist and naturalist, I just got a job as a herp vet and herp health consultant for the largest animal trade company in my country, and of the very few herp vets I know, there are only two or three that really know what they're looking at when they see one of our scaly lil' friends. Even the other guys recently hired by the company can't tell an iguana from a water dragon or didn't even know ivermectin is lethal for turtles... so, I'm pretty sure there are no qualified herp vets around.
