Karl, I also noticed folks coughing and sneezing at the show, thus the possibility of a ``Typhoid Mary`` spreading disease.
However, I wonder if someone like that could spread disease to over 30 people that we know of so far?
As BW said, it is Very Contagious and comes on really fast, so perhaps that is what happened.
I have not ruled out something in the heating and AC system though, and still think the Health Department of Columbia should investigate that. The 80 degree temperatures in the air and the dampness of the air in the center were certanily a great breeding ground for air-borne illness.
Has anyone from the show promoters called anyone from the City Healty Department yet?
Best Regards JohnZ

First let me say that I am sorry that some of you got sick, and hope you all are feeling better.
Here is my thought on this:
As Monica has posted Myself, Danny, Monica and Jason were in that building from 9:00am on Friday till 9:00pm on Sunday night. Danny and I only left to go out to eat with Al Brown and company Sat night and we were gone for roughly 2 hours, and thats the ONLY time we left the building . It is our belief that if it was the Heating unit that we would have had it the worse than anyone. We all are fine and never showed any signs of anything.
We believe that it was just the season change and alot of germs being past around. It is flu season.
There are a good many more that are not/was not affected than those that were.
If it would make any of you feel better I will (email if possible) get in contact with the health department and see what they say.
Again I hope everyone is feeling better.
Sincerely,
Cathy Elrod
Ps The reason I am just now responding is because Danny and I went the GA Herp Expo to promote Repticon.

Sounds like a virus or bacterial infection to me.. Doesnt take much to spread around quickly with that many people confined to one area. Think about all the people shoulder to shoulder looking at things, the crowd, the door knobs, picking up things and putting them back down, the bathrooms, the doors, etc. Just takes 1 person not feeling well and being contagious.. Just a thought. Bryan

Cathy, it is interesting that none of you who stayed with the building got the ``Typhoid Swampy`` bug, LOL !
That would tend to help rule out the AC and Heating systems.
What is interesting is thay you all spent most of your time in the front of the building, and most of the sick people were in the venomous section.
Maybee it was someone who spent a lot of time in the Venomous Section who was the carrier.
Best Regards JohnZ

Well, what ever does not kill you makes you stronger.
Or so they say.......
So hopefully, everyone who caught the bug will develope an immunity to it for the next time they run into it.
And at the next show, if we see someone who is sickly, and going around spreading germs by caughing all over the place, we should escort them from the building and refund their money and cane the tar out of them for endangering others with their rudeness.
Best Regards JohnZ
