Actually if you really look at the two animals side by side they don't look much alike. Tigers will almost always have a much smaller head then a speck. In general tigers are also much less colorful. Specks have a pretty wide color range where as most tigers are varying shades of grey to brown (with some exceptions).
One of the easiest ways is to look at the tails. Specks will typically have a semi coon tail (alternating black and white bands) before the rattle whereas tigers just continue the body pattern right down to the rattle.
In many cases a tiger will also have a very large rattle in comparision to it's body but this varies as well from animal to animal and also wether or not it has had any damage.
The banding on tigers is also much more "tiger stripe" looking then a speck who can alomst have saddles instead of bands.
