Since antivenin is produced only in the UK now, does that mean nobody in the U.S. milks venomous snakes for their venom anymore?

People still milk in hte US, however, it si not fpr the production of Antivenom, but for other research....or in the case of the rattlesnake roundups, any claim of research is fundamentally illegitimate, unscientific and pharmacologically useless.
For venom to have any scientific/pharocological value, it must be harvested in the most impeccably sanitary conditions. Guarentee of the origin of the venom is an absolute necessity too. The venom will be milked into a cooled beaker, and the should be filtered to remove any bacteria which might be present. Then the venom is lyopholized or the proteins are separated.
I assume that your query stems from thew antivenom shortage that we are witness to. Are you from Los Angeles or Louisiana?
Cheers

Also George VanHorn near kissimee in Fl. does quite a large volume of venom extraction. I think his is mostly used for research at miami university for various medical indications. He took a sample of my ophiophagus a few years back.
