Could I please get some opinions on what types of ven. snakes would be good to start out with? Thanks for any help.

It's hard to say, what is your experience thus far?
quick note: most people won't take you seriously when you have the word "shrooms" in your e-mail addy.....
other then that copperheads and little pigs are good starters, read the article on starter hots on this site...

Eyelash vipers are a good first venomous they have low aggression compared to other tree vipers. Sidewinders also make a good first rattler very low aggression as well.
