One book you may want to check into is:
SNAKES OF MEDICAL IMPORTANCE
(ASIA-PACIFIC REGION)
Editors: P. Gopalakrishnakone & L. M. Chou
Published by Venom And Toxin Research Group
National University of Singapore
and
International Society on Toxinology
(Asia-Pacific Section)
ISBN 9971-62-217-3
I would not pay much attention to their ideas on snakebite treatment, but it will do for telling you what is found where when it comes to Asian venomous snakes. You will be better off trying to find it in a library. It is the most expensive book I have ever purchased.

A very good source of information of Venomous Snakes found in the Phillipines is the out of print, but still available book called : Poisonous Snakes of the World, which was published by the Department of the Navy, of the US Government. It is readilly available on Amazon, and I usually have a few for sale at the reptile shows. Some of the scientific names have changed, but the lists of snakes by country are still very usefull.
It shows the following venomous snakes being in the Phillippines:
Calliophis calligaster, Maticora intestinalis, Naja naja, Ophiophagus hanna, Trimeresurus flavomaculatus, and Trimeresurus wagleri.
Hope this helps.

A more up-to-date list:
Naja philippinensis (Luzon, Mindoro and surrounding islands, apparently also on Palawan and Mindoro (introduced?)
Naja samarensis (Mindanao, Samar, Leyte, Bohol)
Naja sumatrana (Palawan)
Ophiophagus hannah (throughout)
Hemibungarus calligaster
Calliophis intestinalis
Parias flavomaculatus (ex-Trimeresurus) - probably in reality several species)
Parias macgregori (Batanes Islands)
Tropidolaemus spp. (several species, group under revision, found throughout in one form or other)
Cheers,
WW

PLEASE HELP!
One of my friends was on vacation in the Philippines this summer, and while he was in the shower he started screaming.
His family broke down the door and when the ambulance arrived to try and revive him, his body was already turning black and he was foaming at the mouth.
The family did an autopsy but the Filipino coroners for some reason could not do a poison test (they said there wasn't enough blood), but I am wondering if the symptoms he underwent were something that could result from a snake bite? He was already covered in bug bites it was hard to distinguish if he had any new bites.
Any information regarding poisonous snakes and even insects (if you have any info on that) will help me greatly to solve this mystery. Thank you.

Dana, a snake bite would not cause the symptoms you listed that quickly. Not knowing anything about your friend, it is difficult to say, however, you should probably look into things like pulmonary edema, or cardiac failure.
Hope this helps.
