Ok, I know this sounds like a real amateur thing to ask. But just recently getting into boas and pythons I was unsure. At different reptile shows I always see either a yellow, orange, green, or brick reddish color snake in a little container on a branch. I've always kind of pasted it off and never asked what it was assuming that it was some kind of tree boa. After getting my first "boid" (rtb) I became interested in them alot. Now, as for the question.... Are they an Amazon tree boa, emerald tree boa, green tree python or somthing else. I Assume its one of the three. If so, whats with the color phases, is the something that only happens as a baby, or does the snake stay this color forever? Hows their temperment, and answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone on "Experts" that help to answer other peoples questions!

Kyle: Don't take this as gospel, as I really haven't kept many of these, but here goes. Emerald tree boas are born red & later turn green. Green tree pythons are born yellow & later turn green. Garden boas can be, in some morphs, yellow to orange. I hope that helps.

Amazon Tree Boas come in many different colors. However, be aware that most of your arboreals (tree-dwellers) do not take well to being handled. And when tree boas bite, it's not pretty:

Thank you guys very much! I Have read about the three species and have found like you said, they're not to accepting to be handled. The Colorations ARE beautiful but must be treated with alot of respect. Thank you guys again.

I am also very interested in the Emerald Tree Boa. From my understanding, the easiest way to tell them apart from the python is that the Boas have larger scales on the front of head (compared to rest of head), while all the python's head scales are of consistent size.
