I know Copperheads are related to Water Moccasins, but do Copperheads take readily to swimming?

actually all snakes (venomous and non-venomous) are incredibly great swimmers. They are, by design, perfectly adapted to sleek through the water. Now as far as copperheads actually taking a dip, I can't say for sure, I don't live where they occur naturally. But in the summer I spent at the Sacramento Zoo volunteering in the snake house, I never saw the copperhead in the pond in his enclosure. The one time he got into the water was pre-shed and that was only for a couple hours.
If only Nevada laws weren't so strict..... (wishful thinking)

The first Copperhead that I ever found (1975) was swimming in a brackish water creek at Sandbridge, Virginia.
They may not "take readily to swimming" but they certainly manage it very well whenever they perceive the necessity.

I find them pretty regularly in the swimming pool. Not sure if they planned on going in for a swim, but they end up there somehow.

Ive found several in or around water. They probably dont prefer it as much as a cottonmouth but they definetly arent afraid of it.
