I'm nor currently a venomous keeper(have been in the past) and the whole battle over laws and regulations and pressure groups does not directly touch me, but I do like to keep up . . . hence I for one have no problem with civil posts here about these battles. Rob's idea of a special section set aside for the issue is a good one. The term "forum" basically means a place to speak one's mind, and as long as the terms are civil and the tone polite, I cannot see why any issues should be off limits.

That's all I was getting at. As stated, it is critically important that we are all aware of what's happening with legislation and it's important to discuss it here and perhaps there's a better way to expedite these discussions. These topics need to stay on the burner and I am just afraid that they'll bet buried in time where folks will forget about it. If there was a separate area to go to, that might keep things more organized and up to date. BUT, if folks would rather have this on the general forum, that is fine by me. Like "Tiger" said, it's an open forum and anyone listed as a member has the right to post any question they feel is appropriate - it wasn't meant as a criticism in the least.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just FYI - I personally don't mind Z's posts. HOWEVER, I think the big cat people probably have a tougher fight ahead of them than we do, particularly in South Carolina. That's all I'm saying about that.

Thanks all of you for your kind words. Rob Carmichael and me made up thru private emails, so all is good, no enemies.
But AR really is a threat, many of you maybe know about all the horse protection acts bills that were introduced by HSUS$ and passed this year causing US horse processing plants to close. Long story short, USA people really do not eat horse, it was exported, the MAIN buyer for horse meat in USA are actually AZA zoos, horse is a great diet for carnivores, such as big cats and birds of prey. So AZA zoos are either switching to beef or buying horse meat from Canada (or maybe Mexican ) suppliers, so horses still will be killed and eaten, just not killed in USA, they will be slaughtered outside of USA where US animal welfare laws don’t apply, so HSU$ really made the situation better (insert sarcasm).
And since you snake owners/zoos also have carnivorous animals, I can see HSU$/AR next target to be the (inhumane to them) rodent euthanasia/killing methods. Think about it and get ready for a fight.
(AR are already goign after farmers, which wil in teh long run cause meat prices to soar or farmers simply closing down. Extreme and expensive regulation is often as bad as a ban.)
I guess you can raise your own feeder rodents, but it is no fun as I am sure u know, I have done it in the past when I had a snake and wild caught monitors that had to be trained to accept not live prey. Raising rodents was smelly and I ended up with too many cute mice pets. Never again;)

Meat won't be banned in the US. The McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King etc. lobby would blow the HSUS off the map.
