What is your opinions on full moon herping? Do some of you guys have luck on a new moon night? I plan a lot of trips, but sometimes it's hard to plan around a new moon.

I find herping worse when the moon is full. The better nights are when the moon is a quarter or thumbnail. Last thumbnail I quit counting at 25 in a couple hours.
The more the moon seems to bring out the nocturnal hunters like owls, skunks, coyotes and the like and thus less snakes seem to be active. Just an observation. However.....I also have found that snakes tend to be out when they are out and sometimes there is no rhyme or reason and it is hard to predict, except for the rain.

I agree with Doug, the full moon is usually a poor time to road cruise, however, every now and then you will find reptiles that are out anyway.
If you have that time free, it is still fun to be out crusing, even if you see no snakes, as you will hear frogs and toads calling, and see cool critters like skunks, and porkypines, and opossums, and spideys that are out and about. Way better than sitting on your butt and watching American Idle !
Sometimes weather conditions are more of a factor than the moon phase. Here in GA we have the worst heat wave / drout in over 100 years. Once the rains come back in this fall, the snakes will be out crawling, no matter what the moon is doing. And I will be hunting them, no matter what the moon is doing, LOL !
