New here and preparing to start a hot collection. I was bitten when I was 10 while fishing by a copper head. Ever since then I have been facinated by snakes especaley copper heads and cotton mouths. I plan on starting with a copper head and would like to know if it would be better to collect one from the wild or buy one on line? I am also finding it hard to find folks with experiance to lern from as Hot keepers seem to be secretive people (understandably) Any input will be greatly apreceated and I thank you in advance for it.

Filling your profile out would benefit you greatly. Most members here like to know a little about the person who is asking questions. Once you have done this you will find your answers will be much more personalized and detailed. Understandably some members do not take the time to answer someone who does not take the time to give some sort of biography.

I apoligise guy's for not filling out the profile. I touched it up some and will add photo's of my non-venomus snakes as soon as I get some. I live in LaMarque Texas. As far as I can tell it is leagle but frowned on to keep hots or large non native mammels but it is done. My problem is that the folks who keep hot's are verry secrative about what they keep. I mainly would like to start with copper heads as they are VERRY common here and I have had great oppertunity to catch quite a few down town at Buffalo Bayou up in Houston. I would then like to move on to Cotton Mouths and then some of the local rattle snakes witch are also verry common from LaMarque right up into Houston.
