I may have some baby malayans arriving within the next two weeks and I wanted to hear anyones experience on getting them started...I understand that tease feeding brained pinks sometimes works...I just thought I'd post this and see if anyone has had success with scenting or anything....any info at all that you'd like to share on this species would be appreciated...

Hi Sierra...
I have about 20 C. rhodostoma eggs incubating, so I'll be better equipped to answer your question in a month or so.
I have access to cricket frogs, and salamanders, should they be needed, but I'd prefer the babies start feeding on pinks, just like you....
I'll come back to this thread in a few weeks to let you know how I'm getting along, should I be blessed with any babies from the clutches I'm incubating....
I have 1.4 adults, and this is the first time any of the females has produced eggs for me......

I will be recieving some in the next couple of weeks who are currently feeding on frogs. I will be attempting to switch them over myself and will let you know how it works out.

Sound fine Jared, I'm getting a few Anoles with mine and I'll try that if needed, but I want to try to tease feed brained pinks first and see how that goes and then fall back on the Anoles or even frogs if needed...I'll share what happends with everyone by posting it here...

Sierra,
I recently (August) hatched about 20 maylay eggs.
All neonates have eaten readily on either cricket frogs, baby fence lizards, or brown skinks. Cricket frogs are the best feeders for me though. All babies have eaten twice, and I am now trying to convert them to live or scented pinks. As of yet they show no interest in taking live pinks. They have taken F/T five lined skink scented pinks though.
I had one non-feeder in the bunch and I have force fed it an inch or so of mouse tail with relative ease many times. Tubing the critter is the hardest part.
Good luck, they are incredible animals. Watch out for the business end though. They've got some _long_ fangs. Also take a look at Ian Long's Tease feeding article for ideas on getting them to eat as well.
