Is there a Banquet planned for November?

We are wanting to plan something for the vendors but are unsure what the plans for the SHHS Banquet are. We have a room availible at the Temple that can be used for a small price, which Danny and myself are willing to chip in half that cost and Steak Out is just right down the road . So what are your thoughts or suggestions?

Cathy, I have not heard of any official plans for a SHHS Banquuet, however, the fall Columbia Show is when one is normally held.
The problem I see with the Steak Delivery thing, would be that the orders would have to be in in advance, and a lot of folks do not know if they want to attend something like that until the last minute. And what of the folks who did not get their orders in on time, and showed up anyway. They would be left out. Also, what if folks wanted a refill on their beverage to go with the steak dinner ? I am assuming there would be only one beverage along with the dinner.
Having a Banquet in something like that Chinese Buffet, or some other restaraunt, if a private room can be reserved, would allow folks to go back for seconds and refills, and eat as much as they wanted.
However, it would have to have doors that could be closed if there were going to be any speakers associated with the thing, so the noise from the other diners would not interfere. Also, we would have to chase off the oriental girl who was clanking silverware in the back corner of the meeting room last time.
Having the "poletitions" of the SHHS speak is booring, and not necessicary, since the SHHS exhists only on the internet, and has no official members, it is difficult to know why we need a official Banquuet.
However, if we reserve a banquet room where we can all just enjoy a nice dinner, that could be fun if the food quality was good.
And if someone wanted to drag Dean Ripa back with his tales of Bushmasters, I could stay up all night listning to him. He could even bring copies of his newly published hardback book on Bushmasters and sell signed copies.

Wherever people may want to gather for dinner and conversation will be entirely up to them.
There are no plans for an "official Southeastern Hot Herp Society" banquet.
I would expect that there will be several groups of SHHS members that will want to get together and share stories and what-not over dinner. Getting to chat with Thomas will probably draw many of the old-time members to the show.
