Hello again, I think i recently aquired my last reptile for a long time. I now have 50 and i dont want to get to the point that i neglect ANY of them. Anyhow, I just recieved a female 14 ft Burmese python, the guy i got her from said she will eating 4 XXL rats every 2 weeks. When i weigh them though they are only like a pound and a half so she is only eating 12 pounds a month....Is that enough? Now, i was also wonder if instead of rats if i can feed her one 10 pound rabbit every 2 weeks or should i feed her every week. I feed all my other snakes every 7-10 days depending on the size of the food item though I never had a snake to this magnatude so again...i turn to you guys for advice. The people i got her from said they had her for 4 years and they bought her when she was 4ft, i'm guessing she's around 6 yrs old....is 14ft and 50 pounds about average for this age or should i feed her more? Thanks for everything you guys.

If she's 14' and 50 pounds she's a little on the light side. A pic would be helpful. Realize this, most captive burms are overfed and kept in cages that are too small preventing regular exercise (unless they are allowed out of their cages under supervised conditions). We feed our adult burms one or two rabbits a month. Our 15-footers will get one 7-10 pound rabbit every 3-4 weeks and that's plenty. Some folks feed their's every two weeks and a lot will depend on metabolism, environment, etc. These are animals that are kept in 12' cages and even then, are allowed to roam around our facility once or twice a week. I would personally try to get your burm on rabbits just to simplify things a bit. www.rodentrpro.com is a good source for rabbits.
