Hi Tom,
I seem to recall you mentioning haveing a few batches of rhodstoma eggs cooking right now and im curious, what is your experince with raiseing the neonates? Have you had any sucsess tease and tap feeding? Im getting a pair of babies this weekend and they are eating criket frogs and being force fed pink hams and heads but obviously, I want to avoide either feeding methods if posible. Ive had a good ammont of experince tease feeding squam, copper and trim babies(T.purps)so if theyll eat that way, I should be strait but the renouned reputation for this sp stubborness as babies is makeing me make sure I go out and get any and all info I posibly can.
Also, Ive heard scenting can work well with these guys and Im pretty sure I could get em to take pink parts scented in Criket Frog but I dont know where in the hell to get any and hate haveing to freeze the damn anphib!!! I should be able to get aleast 1 frog(may try different sp but I think the guy who produced em said criket frogs were what really turned em on)so if thats the case, oh well but just incase I cant, are their anyother scents known to stimulate baby rhodstoma to eat? Chicken, snake...etc
One last thing, if you do have any babies cooking right now, keep me in mind for a pair if they havent been spoken for. Id love to get some different blood, being that mine are siblings.
Welp, thanks for any help you can give Tom!
Take care and more Tiny the Trapjaw pics are on their way:-)
Later,
J

Hi Jeremy.....
I *had* two clutches of C. rhodostoma eggs in the incubator. Of the 40 odd eggs, there are about 8 good ones left. The females produced eggs without me ever knowing they were gravid. While the females are pretty large snakes, the eggs are tiny, and I didn't find them until many were very dried out....
I haven't hatched any yet, but they should be hatching any day, if any of them last to term....
I'll know more about how to get them to eat when I can see how tiny they are... I'll probably try worms and new born pinks left in with the babies overnight. It seems I've read somewhere that they often eat after dark....
Tom
