as far as the two hook method....my snakes are 3-3.5ft....one will corner himself and no matter what he just slips off the hook....i have more tools on the way to assist in everything...tubes, bigger stats, more hooks and different size hooks, and tongs....i try my best to leave them alone....and if he is in the opposite side of the cage as the water bowl or whatever, i will just leave him alone...but when he is up front and intent on getting out as soon as i open the door, i move him so he doesnt fall out of the cage...its about 3ft...my "force feeding tools" havent arrived yet but maybe tuesday....thanks for the help....

This is sounding more and more like you have a stressed out wild caught adult. If that is a wild caught adult EDB, you may never get him to eat with very special techniques. Is he a wild caught adult, and if so, how long has he been out of the wild?

he is wild caught...i have had him 8 months...he has eaten once every 3-4 weeks until around 5 weeks or so ago.....he was caught as a juvy and the guy i got him from had kept him about 4-5 months before i bought him...its just recently that he has done this and as far as his behavior patterns, i dont see any difference because he never was active as some of my other snakes....but he will rattle when i open the cage, move in and out of the hot spot a few times a day, bite and "kill" his food but just recently quit eating....the mouth looks good and no cuts around it from anything and it isnt swollen....no signs of respiratory infection....im just gonna force feed, try my best to get a stool sample and if nothing, try to brumate him....my only worry was that the other one died so mysteriously....same signs but he ate the last time, regurgitated and died a few days later....it might be brumation...

Charper'
What would be the exact or proper diameter of an 3 foot EDB. Mine (buzz's) mid body is 7 and 1 half inches around. And should I keep feeding him till mid november. He will only eat 1 med. rat every two to three weeks apart.

That's a good question, and not one that I would know the answer to. I have never measured the diameter of my snakes. If your snake has been eating okay throughout the year, it's probably okay to brumate it. I had a copperhead that stopped eating on Sept. 9th one year, and didn't start back again until April 4th. I still have her.
