Atractaspids. They aren't vipers. They are burrowing snakes that have the common name "mole" or "side-stabbing stilletto" snakes. Mole is the term used for their burrowing capabilities and side-stabbing stilletto because they have fangs that actually poke out the sides of their mouths. When they strike, they actually swing and stab rather than shoot straight on.
