Jim, I honestly don't know how to define 'is' for you (might be the thing of English being my second language, or if u r going with Clinton/Lewinsky affair reference, I despise Clinton), but I go with the Webster's definition of ADVICE, and Eric is not getting any here, all he is getting is personal
opinions of his idea being either good or bad, but he is not getting any constructive advice on how to get on the right track and do it
correctly.
Very disappointing, one would think coming to Experts forum, you get an expert advice,
I guess it is not always the case.
Webster definition of 'advice': : recommendation regarding a decision or course of conduct :

I guess that would depend on what your definition of the word "is" is. I am
just going to agree with you (with fingers crossed).

I think Eric's motives are good and when I first read his post I had a few questions/thoughts:
- I wanted to see what his forum/web page looked like so if he had given a web address to check out, laern about the site's mission, etc I probably would have been more open initially
- There were some excellent ideas put on the table to help Eric out; not sure how he got a cold shoulder (not by everyone) but I think there were some good, constructive suggestions. Rather than having one person, have several well known folks get involved as most of us simply don't have a lot of time at our disposal.
- "Teachers" typically get paid. Its not easy to find folks who are well known in this field donating time....that's not to say they do this for the money, just the opposite - no one in this field does it for the money but their efforts should be compensated to some degree if someone else is benefitting - I personally give away my time quite a bit but I can also say that when I bring in a special guest or something along those lines, I try to compensate them for their time in order to support the work they are doing.
- I would bet that if you perused all of the old posts on this forum/web site, you would probably be able to find enough info to get this on site class rolling. There's a ton of great info; even topics on biology.
With this being said, I think Eric has a great idea and if folks with certain specialties/knowledge/experiences can help pitch in, it might work. I would suggest to Eric that contacting them directly, introducing yourself and provide a little more detailed information about what you are trying to do will be a good strategy.

I thought "advice" could fall under the category of personal opinion. Have you looked up "mentor" yet to see that it is not a webpage, etc.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim, we could play this Webster ping pong game of words all day, but I am busy and have to go offline for a while. Hope you will reconsider and help Eric, your profile says u r a teacher and want to open a museum/zoo one day to educate.
Thanks
