I just fed a fuzzy to my pigmy, and I think that it was (insert your favorite action star here) reincarnate. Delilah (the pigmy) is pretty big (~100g) and normally DESTROYS fuzzies. They usually stop twitching about 45 seconds after the first bite. One particularly stubborn fuzzy survived about 90s. This bad boy today survived, I kid you not, 15 minutes. Everytime I thought it died, Delilah would attempt a swallow, and the fuzzy would PULL ITSELF OUT OF DELILAH'S MOUTH with its front paws. This happened at least four times (I was in too much shock to actually scientifically record this incident). At one pint her fang got stuck on the fuzzie's head as it pulled itself out of her mouth. So...what's the longest that a prey item has survived after the first bite. Also, do you think this mouse may have a slightly venom resistant strain? I breed my own mice, and the mother of this fuzzy is tenacious. This was her first brood, but I'm going to try others in this batch to see if Delilah has the same problem again.
I'm awe struck.

Josh, it is not likely that Bruce Willis has contributed to the genetics of your mice.
It is more likely that the Pygmy Rattlesnake is going through a dry spell, and rendering dry bites, which are mostly non fatal stab wounds to the fuzzy mouse.

John,
My first thought was dry bite, but the fuzzy acted like it was a hot bite (typical fuzzy behavior after a bite includes vigorous rubbing of the bite area). I am also convinced that I saw a tell-tale golden drop at the second bite site.
So if it wasn't Bruce Willis, could it have beem Jet Li, Vin Diesel, Dwane "The Rock" Johnson, or some other contributer? I put even money on Jackie Chan. He can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
