Who would you recommend to purchase a hot from that is near Ohio or in the midwest period. Any hints would help.

where in ohio are you ? in some parts you cant keep venomous so you might want to find out. there is a show in jefferson at the ashtabula fair gounds it is a venomous show, what hots where you wanting to get ?

Since you seem to just be getting in to this, have you thought about finding your own? Copperheads are frequently listed as first hots and there should be some places not too far from you with adequate populations. Spring is just around the corner (even in Ohio). Some of my most rewarding snakes, especially when I was first getting into keeping them, were the ones that I personally collected. This will probably bring a cry from the captive born only crew but with a few notable exceptions, I think that "taking" a specimen here and there really has no effect on the long term survival of the populations.
