I spent some time with Nic Cage giving him a tour of the Reptile Gardens this last summer during the filming of National Treasure 2 (among many of the other cast and crew). He was a very unnassuming, genuine fellow. He had an absolute fascination with animals and nature of all kinds and reptiles in particular. He really enjoyed his cobras when he had them and my guess is, he just simply did not want to cause stress with his neighbors.
He loved our Big Saltwater Croc "Maniac" I gave him a nose to nose introduction to the Croc..he loved it!
Very cool fellow.

I wonder if he still visits this site since he gave up the cobras? Does anyone know a way to reach him? We have been discussing on the hide spot a national reptile society to combat legislation. something akin to what the NRA is doing for guns. We could certainly use someone like Cage to do for us what Charlton Heston did for the NRA.

Hey Chuck, Henry Rollins might be a good alternative. Although prob. not as well known, his spoken word tours are usually quite politacally motivated and I know he has a sincere vested interest in the hobby. Just a thought.....
