Check to see if there's any reptile shows in your area that include venomous snakes. For your own protection, check the laws in your area with regards to whether it's legal in your area. The last thing you would want is to be in possession of something illegal. Canebrakes, Timbers and Eastern Diamondbacks are watched very carefully, and in most states you can't keep anything that's not considered native to the area you live in.

Just my opinion…If you need to ask where to purchase a hot snake then you don’t need to own one. If you have any degree of basic knowledge via your own research and intuition then you would have known already. Also, judging by the comment you left on the article I wrote you really don’t need to own one. This hobby doesn’t need any more bad press than it already has.

lazy or not, isn't THIS POST technically research?
is there really a difference in digging through archived info vs. current info?
do you know this guy well enough to warrant the condescending, elitist tone?
there is a fine line between protecting the interest of the hobby vs. protecting YOUR interests

I'll side with Peter on the question.....if you have to ask, you shouldn't have one. After looking at this chap's profile, Peter's words are even more appropriate. If the question was worded with much more detail, he would get a much more thorough response with good info. Just my .02...and not trying to be condenscending. An example of how the original question could have been worded: "I'm new to keeping venomous and wanted to get some advice on how I go about finding a reputable breeder/seller for a banded rock rattlesnake"....that would get a positive response.

I believe you’re the last person to be giving advice on the preservation of this hobby Mr. Duckworth. I am sorry any one who says they think it would be kind of cool to get bitten by a snake doesn’t need to be working with hots. And yes I did say something to the effect of not letting people discourage you but that doesn’t mean encourage the ones who are a liability.

who said anything about preservation? i received a $300 ticket and paid it. what else can i do?
i'm mainly talking about your usual reply to things.
for instance, you have supposedly been keeping hots since you were 13 unless your profile is incorrect. if a 13 year old came on here and started a thread about keeping hots, wouldn't you be the proud owner of one of the initial condescending replies?
there is already enough of that in this hobby and it should be as obvious as that nose on your face that this division is hurting the hobby. also, i'm gonna shoot you an email.
