A few comments:
1. D'oh! Is Homer Simpson now delivering venomous snakes?
2. Pet peve: they're venomous, not poisonous
3. Can you say 'kingsnake.com'?
4. Which of our SHHS mebers is going down for this one? (or is the mystery man one of us)?
Tiny tiny little bit of silver lining. At least they mentioned that there is a safe and legal way to ship venomous snakes. Unfortunately, apparently 90%+ of venomous reptile keepers are crooked and in it just to turn a quick profit (according to mystery man).

Either way, the SOB's that are shipping illegally and doing everything the most dangerous and irresponsbile way ARE GOING TO GET US SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY. You guys need to put the pressure on whoever you are buying from. Under no circumstances should you accept that someone will ship to you illegally. If you get busted, it's your problem.
This is getting ridiculous. We haven't had this kind of problem for years, now it seems like suddenly everyone is breaking the law for the sake of breaking it. For the sake of everyone involved, TAKE THE TIME TO DO IT RIGHT.

the mystery man was busted and is now doing whatever he can to save his own hide.
he's also loving the "danger factor" and that's why he couldn't wait to mention that he slept with them right by his head.
face it, 99999 of 100,000 stories are simply meant to portray the animals and the hobby as totally dangerous. it's a losing battle because those out of the loop don't care and don't wanna care.
this really shouldn't rile anyone up because it is what we should all expect. most legitimate businesses do things by the book from what i've seen. i don't buy into the 10/1 ratio of "bad guys" to "good guys" though. that's bs
i bet he was part of last year's sting operation and is telling on people just to save himself.
and i can PROMISE you, they don't care one bit if the person tells you lies, i was told in my situation to "c'mon, just give us some names, we'll decide whether they're doing wrong or not". of course i refused because i knew nothing of value and i'm paying the price for it now.
and i've never seen anyone anesthetize a snake to ship it.

I dont think they are portraying the reptiles in a negative way at all. But unfortunately there are too many that dont want to follow a few certain rules or precautions and bad chyt happens.. It is a bad reflection on the "Herp community" as a whole..There are even a few valid points to look at. Antivenins for exotics are extremely hard to locate and as pointed out most doctors haven't a clue on treatment. Like the rescent case where Cro-fab was given to the guy with a Tropical Rattlsnake bite.. Point being that there is a lot of risk with all wild life. Unfortunately not everyone is responsible. The media usually is usually one sided about these things because it sells!!( Dont think we will ever get the complete truth from them about anything )
As far as illegal trade. Unfortunately it pays.. I have for years been doing rescue work with wolves (mostly hybrid).. Most of the rescues I have done I believe are because breeders will sell a cub to anybody with 2 or 3 hundred dollars. People think "cool I got a wolf".. Eventually it GROWS into a 80 - 100 lb. Undomesticated animal that craps and eats and they dont know what to do with it. Wolves being another misunderstood creature is Az. is not recognized for Rabies Vacine, If Impounded are almost always destroyed because they are not recognized in the same way.
Again , it's late and I'm ramblin about chyt I dont probabley know much about but it sounds good

Actually, just like with venomous snakes’ issues, where media calls them poisonous and says other untruths out of ignorance, same is with wolf hybrids, many are really just husky mix.
Few months ago a local woman jwas killed after she just moved in with her son who had many canines , mostly males kept outside and female in heat in the house…long story short, from seeing pics and talking to the people who saw the canines, they were husky mix and our small town local media correctly reported it as 'woman killed by dogs' (obviously dogs didn’t know/respect her and hormones likely played a role), however, the big not local media reported it as 'woman killed by wolf hybrids', simply because they love to sensationalize and wanted to blame another death on wild/exotic privately owned animals.
Anyway, although we never planned it that way, we ended up with 6 new wolf hybrids in 2007, one was stray from shelter, with 2 their owner died suddenly and 3 came from sanctuary that was moving, they got them from some irresponsible breeder from some Indian reservation, anyway, they are high content, extremely timid and were mother raised, u can see them in background in this lion video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONpDAJUIwmY
Not just wolf hybrid, any working breed dog is high energy and likes to dig and need discipline, but yes, wolf hybrids are harder to potty train and are more destructive than your average dog.
I also don’t fix males, I only spay females, so we have 4 unfixed wolf hybrids here now, but I am alpha and they know it.
Wolfies (or workign breed dogs) are easy to keep if u understand/train them. Breeder might educate new buyers, but until u personally experience how destructive they can be, people/breeders can tell you and you will not believe it until it is your own house and yard that is being eaten;-)

I know of several dealers/companies that do this, they don't care what you say to them. The only way it to get them to stop is to turn them over to authorities and get their FVL pulled.
