The Wildlife Discovery Center will be hosting Reptile Rampage on Sunday, March 9th from 10am to 4pm at the Lake Forest Recreation Center Gym. This is an education-only event featuring 75 exhibitors from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri and Ohio. It's a great time and there will be many cool herps on exhibit plus a cobra exhibit (St. Louis Herp Society) and I will personally be showcasing my prized female Lachesis muta - a big impressive girl. The traveling SoLA (Snakes of Latin America) will be on hand with our south american critters.
This event is sponsored by CroFab and we couldn't do it w/out their support. Proceeds will benefit the Wildlife Discovery Center. Additionally, we will continue our support of the Guatemalan Beaded Lizard project in addition to another exciting project that we are partnering with: the conservation of the Atlantic Bushmaster, Lachesis muta rhombeata. The Serra Grande Nucleus in Bahia, Brazil is a facility that is dedicated to the conservation of this bushmaster subspecies (or species depending on who you talk to). Their habitat is dwindling by the day and it's hoped that this facility will help with the survival of perhaps the most beautiful of all Lachesis. We will have a big silent auction with all kinds of cool herp stuff and all proceeds will go to Dr. Rodrigo Souza at the Serra Grande Nucleus.
There is a $5 donation (okay, FEE) at the door. For directions, mapquest: 400 Hastings Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045
Feel free to contact me at my email or office at 847.615.4388 or at www.girconservation.com
Hope to see a couple of you there.

thanks for another successful "reptile rampage" rob! i wanted to introduce myself, but you were having too much fun interacting with everyone. i'm looking forward to next year. as much as i enjoyed the venomous snakes on display, i have to say that mammoth tortoise in the back left the biggest impression on me. very cool!
