ok well a few months back (last year) Al posted a topic on here about a dude on youtube knwon as muffdaddy2..........he had his little uneducated videos on venom and venomous snakes. well here are two more that show he'll be in the hospital in the near future.
here's is southern copperhead he recently caught. How many people wanna bet he's just has it in the same type of caging as your average ball python??
http://youtube.com/watch?v=neQi5rsKzuc
the end of this one is what pissed me off the most he basically says he plans on trying to tame the copperhead so he can freehandle it.......and he says this he doesn't imply it he verbally SAYS it.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=mt1WPOKFVvc&feature=related
I'll really freakin hate this guy. He's stupid, he thinks hes really smart, he's extremely egotisitcal, and to be honest the day I see his name on this site or on KS because he's either dead or near death will be a day that I'll laugh at him. Since he's soo smart and all...........
just though I'd show an example of the kinds of people who are ruining our hobby for us right now look like, and they ain't pretty.

What bothers me most about folks like this muff clown, is that they recieve 4 and 5 star ratings from hundreds of folks who watch their porly made videos.
Karl was somewhat right in saying that the advent of UTube was probably a bad thing.
And it bothers me that someone at Hamburg sold someone like this muff a copperhead. And he was debating if he should get a copperhead or an gaboon viper ! I wonder if anyone would have sold him a gaboon ?
No wonder that so many Curators at Zoos and Natural History Museums have the attitude that individuals should not keep venomous snakes (or no snakes for that matter) in private collections.
I gave the hobby 10 years at most a couple of years ago. We will be lucky if it makes it 5 more years.

Not to put a damper on things but it really scares me watching the Hamberg show on the video. The amount of exotics for sale and the ease in which some folks can purchase. I may be a little out of line with it but if crotchdiver can buy a snake there whats to stop the other idiots like him?????? Shelby

I was happy to see this guy put out another video saying he wasn't going to try and handle the snake due to it's unpredicitble nature. That doesn't mean the 100s of kids following his videos won't try. It's a real shame and doesn't help our fight to keep reptile much less venomous reptiles.
I often wonder if this guy even knows how bad he makes the rest of us look and how someone that doesn't keep reptiles would portray private keepers due to his videos.
I'm seriously considering making some U Tube videos. I don't want to be portrayed as another A-- Clown though. I'm thinking rather than focusing on the snakes and handling looking more at securing the room and cages where the snakes are kept. Let the puiblic see the precautions most of us take for our safety and the saftey of others. Basically Showing the general public that all venomous keepers are not irrisposible.
I'm also thinking I can get a few other people to let me video their snake room and cages just so mine is not the only one. Then possibly moving on to some basic husbandry.
This is an idea not sure if I will move on it or not. I would hate to feel I need to show people my gun on video the night before a show so I could feel safe walking around.
I would like to hear your thoughts and feedback on this idea.
Be safe
Eric G.

My home state is one of the few remaining in the Nation without prohibitive laws regarding keeping venomous snakes. I would give up my current free system for a slightly more difficult permitting system if it would mean putting a damper on the fools who are making such great strides to kill our hobby.

on his little video about venoms he suggested to use a tournequette (spelling?) I would laugh sooooo hard if he used that with that copperhead.
That video idea sounds pretty good.
Like most american media, we focus on the bad.

Eric, the idea of making videos that show responsible reptile keeping is a good one. They should serve to work against the bad ones that are allready out there.
Not all videos on UTube are bad, as is seen in those posted by Al Coritz are quite excellent and educational.
Even those videos by "Herping with Dylan" work to educate folks, although Dylan does show some dangerous handling practaces from time to time, that might be copied by kids. The same thing can be said for Walter`s videos.
The more good material on UTube, the better. Hopefully, it will help educate those who are capable of learning.
Of the other portion of the UTube viewers who only like the sensationalism, there is little hope for them. It is amazing how often the folks who show bad reptile handling on videos also use metal or hiphop / rap music for the background.
