There is a new Microsoft BETA mapping software that could be of use in finding tin to flip and abandoned old home places, or previewing back roads. I have also used it to locate rock outcrops that were hidden by woods. You do not need to download their BETA software to use the basic mapping thing. If you do choose to download the BETA, be carefull as it will try to change your home page by default. (shame on you Bill Gates).
I am not sure yet just how much of the country is covered yet though, so its best feature may or may not work for you, depending on where you live.
Check it out at : maps.live.com (do not use www)
Enter your street address and your zip code, then hit enter.
Then for the Amazing Part, click "Birds Eye View," and give it a bit of time to load, then zoom down to street level.
Also try the 3D and 2D and Roads settings.
The program is a bit slow loading, and if you use dial-up still, you will probably crash your computer, so do not even try, LOL .
If your area is part of the high resolution coverage, then you will be able to zoom in to an amazing level that will let you see things like tin sheets on the ground, (look for sunlight reflection from them), boulders, horses and cows out in fields, or even individuals walking, etc.
Let me know what you think. So far I find it a usefull tool in locating snake hunting areas to explore.
Best Regards JohnZ

How old is the subdivision ?
The maps of my area seem to be about 6 to 8 months old.

Very nice. The photo of my house is also a few months old. It shows my tree climber in the back of my truck from back in Nov-Dec. But its still nice. Very useful.
