Found out today that they euth rattlers in southern California during the summer at the Humane society. Is there any outlet for these snakes, I know state law says you can keep a maximum of 2 snakes per spp(so i would be maxed out in half a day). Please help, I have just started working at a shelter and I would not be able to do the euth's. Cheers Don

Are these nuisance call snakes that have been removed from private property?
I don't know what you can do with the snakes....aside from exporting them to other keepers, which is probably against the law.... better to kill them, don't you know, than to relocate them or send them out of state...
The reality of the situation is that you'll have to find out what is legal for you to do and act within the restrictions of the law. It seems odd that California would kill native wildlife rather than attempt to relocate, even rattlesnakes....
If you find that you can send them out of state, I am sure you can find takers here (this web site). I'll donate a few shipping boxes to the cause if you get permission to ship them out of state. I don't have any interest in any for myself, but I'll give you a hand placing them in new homes, or serve as a temporary holding facility if I can help you out.....Let me know....

I'm curious as to how you're getting along with these "problem" snakes, and as to whether you'll be needing any assistance in placing the animals in new homes????
I'm sure we'd all like an update...
