Snake man says Utah killed his rubber boas
Associated Press - June 15, 2008 2:55 PM ET
CLEARFIELD, Utah (AP) - A Utah man convicted of importing snakes without a permit says authorities let all but 3 of the 65 rubber boas die in state custody.
Ryan Hoyer is suing the Division of Wildlife Resources for neglecting to take proper care of his snakes.
Hoyer says they are picky eaters, sensitive to temperature changes and need to bath constantly in water.
The wildlife division referred all questions to Attorney General Mark Shurtleff's office, which says citizens can't sue government for ordinary negligence.
Culper paid almost $1,400 to settle charges of unlawfully possessing wildlife in May 2007.
The Utah Court of Appeals upheld that conviction on Thursday.
Hoyer was helping his father, amateur herpetologist Richard Hoyer, research the reproductive habits of the non-venomous snakes.
They tried to argue the state's import rules typically apply to livestock, not snakes.

Governments always say that you can not sue Governments.
That is not true.
You can sue Governments and those individuals who work for the governement as individuals.
You will need to hire a good Lawyer for this.

Usually I find government’s rules to be idiotic, but there are few isolated times when people who sue the government themselves are even more idiotic.
I moved to Pahrump, NV in fall of 2000 for many reasons: sunny/dry weather, freedom, got tired to fighting all the AR introduced legislation in WA state.
Within about 16 months of moving to Pahrump, I find myself in Tonopah, NV, county seat of Nye County, 5-6 hour round trip, at the county commissioners’ meeting.
Seems like shortly before or about the time I was moving to NV, some guy got his arm injured by his friend’s tiger. To this day I can not get the story straight if alcohol was involved, if the injured put his arm in the tiger’s cage while owners were gone, or if the owner took the tiger out…whatever…
Anyway, stupidity was involved; I just am not able to assign percentages yet.
So this injured guy decides to sue Nye county for not having exotic animal regulations (tiger owner had no money, so why sue him)
I was sick of stupidity and unfair laws (wow, I guess it was still better in 2002 than now in the whole USA), so I testified and clearly said stupidity can not be regulated.
Here is the article from 2002, they misspelled my name Susanna instead of Zuzana, but otherwise it is what I pretty much said, see right lower corner in PDF file:
