This is confusing one quote says someone let their rattler go, another quote says construction disturbed them, aka native wild ones... the one pictured on the link native to FL?

ORANGE COUNTY -- A woman got the scare of a lifetime Sunday after she found a 6-foot rattlesnake in her backyard.
Elaine Larson made the discovery at her home on Granite Bay Drive near Narcoosee Road.
Larson said she had just finished mowing the lawn when she went outside and spotted the snake.
She ran to a neighbor’s house to get help.
He came over and the two used a blanket to distract the rattler and get it into a box.
“It looks like someone let their snake go,” said Jonathan Papenfuss, Larson’s neighbor. “But I mean, if it was growing up around here, there is construction down the road so that's been stirring up some wildlife on the side where they're tearing the trees up. So if they're tearing up their nests, that's probably why it came over here.”
Larson thinks the snake may have actually been hiding in her children's playhouse until she moved it to mow the lawn.
The family is waiting to have animal control come get the snake and take it away.
No one was hurt.

Considering it's a native EDB...I don't think it was let go...

Some people have all the luck! Why can't I finish mowing the lawn, go back outside, and find a 6' EDB?

I have to concur with the feeling that this was not let go but rather a wild EDB. There is alot of construction every where down here in FL right now with homes being built right against natural habitat everyday. Infact a couple of years ago we had a child bitten in gym class outside because the school is built right on a preserve. The following week a worker was bit at the same school. I have to think that the construction forced the snake to seek new hunting grounds and better neighborhood.

First off, since you're not so much a snake person Z, EDB stands for Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. They're the only large rattlesnake in most of Florida.
Also, unless that is a really huge container it's in, it's nowhere near 6 feet. Maybe 4.

Oh yeah, my reading is that Mr. Papenfuss (what a great name, huh) was simply opining on two possibilities of how it might have gotten there.

I have a better one from Australia from 2 days ago:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/pets/catfight-over-designer-moggies/2008/06/14/1213468281716.html
down under, Mr PeaCOCK complaining about BIG exotic cat hybrids with serval, called savannah, waiting list is 2 years, cost 10,000, and he worrie$ people will relea$e these EXPEN$IVE pets...anyway, PeaCOCK complains about loopHOLES people will use the get these pets which he compares to warHEADS and calls them biohazard.
If I was not an insider on exotic animals’ politics, I would think this article must be another ONION spoof, but nowadays real life is crazier than any spoofs out there, so I just stopped reading ONION, not spoofy enough

PS: male savannahs (serval/domestic hybrids) are sterile, so Mr, PeaCOCK needs to explain to us how will they reproduce. Also, often the pair needs to be raised together to reproduce, because of gestation period difference savannahs are born naked and many do not survive.
It is NOT easy to breed them, that is why the price is high, but I guess down under they all become super potent bio hazards warheads under Mr, Peacocks supervision ;-)

I agree that the snake is nowhere near 6 feet...and that it lived in the area, not an escapee or released animal.
Most animal control agencies are the wrong people to call for a snake like that. There are several people in that area that can be contacted through snakegetters dot com.
