Just wondering, why do some stories make it to the news and some don’t? I mean, why report as big news that somebody found a NATIVE rattler in the yard even if nothing happened? Or the dog was bitten. My dog was bitten, I find rattlers often and remove them, but it doesn’t make news??? Why should it?

Most news people seem not to be the least bit interested in doing anything original. When a story about something relatively common seems to sell papers or generate ratings they start reporting every similar situation they can find. Much easier than actually investigating anything new.
You would probably think there had been a rash of crane collapes recently... Doesn't seem very likely.
There also certainly SEEMS to be a coordinated effort to keep exotic animal stories front and center these days. Maybe it's just what I mentioned above, but there sure seems to be more to it...
