Arin,
Are we talking about "similar species" to saw scales? Like, of the same genus?
In my experience, the Palestine saw-scaled viper (Echis coloratus) tends to be a little "calmer" than (Echis ocellatus)... At least the ones I've kept anyway...
But, I honestly cant remeber my Echis ocellatus ever being too bad. Mine were allways a little "snappy" but not biting everything in site.
I have no Echis ocellatus or E. coloratus at the moment, but dont remember either being teribly aggresive... They are "pissy" snakes at times, but ine were kept in fairly large, "naturalistic" enclosures and were never too much of a problem.
I have kept several species of Echis, and perhaps I read the question wrong, but I havent had too much of a problem with ocellatus.
I responded to your email by the way, forgive me but I havent checked it in 2 days now, I will get back to you if I have an email from you waiting. Sorry..
~John.

Well, wild-caught snakes tend to be more "unsettled" at first.
That may explain it as I have many Akistrodon that are wild-caught, and tend to never settle down as much as the CBBs, or the LTCs I have had.
When I'm not soo bussy, I will post my "list" of Echis when I have the time. But none of the Echis I have ever kept have been one too bad.

Sawscales are pissy by nature. I've kept 6 different species and I find that Pakistani Sawscales are by far the most relaxed of the bunch. On the other hand they are LARGE and very toxic, no room for error.

All of the Sawscales that I worked with at the Atlanta Zoo were pissy.
They loved to huff, and puff, and sizzle, LOL.
They also did not like riding hooks.
I never liked working with them because of that.
Best Regards John Z
