Yes John, I've noticed the same thing.
Mine were ussually calm when in the cage (of course huffing and striking if you got too close), but it was a whole other story when trying to pull one out for cage servicing!
They love to slide right off the hook, and after 1 or 2 failed attemps this make them aggrovated (of course). And well, when you've got two of them in the same cage, both sliding off hooks......well you see the point. - Not exactly a safe scenario.
Defenietly grumpy snakes for the most part.
Never gave me a terrible ammount of trouble during feeding or retreiving sheddings, but I can remeber a few occasions when changing a bulb in the cage, or fixing a fallen temperature probe that were..well.. nightmares to say the least. LOL..
I found that by using a small sterilite box (small enough to fit into the cage), that I could ussually lift the snake into that and position the lid closed with a pair of hemos. They just really dont seem to hook at all....
