I actually used to spend a lot of time with Big Jim Fowler. The famous "anaconda" scene was really shot down at the pond smack in the middle of the Lincoln Park Zoo. Sorry to ruin the illusion guys : )
I will say, the best way to ensure that you'll get skunked on a snaking excursion is to go out with a full camera crew and a deadline.
