I'm going to visit Dean Ripa's Serpentarium in Wilmington, North Carolina. I have an extra two days and wanted to go herpin' out there. Anyone know any good places to go? Looking for everything from frogs to rattlers (mostly rattlers). Thanks. Oh yhea, I e-mailed Dean and he said he would let me "hang out" with him at work, cool hu? Thanks again.

Close area to view some herps near Wilmington are Green Swamp, Hoffman Forest, and Croatan Forest. You may have a chance to see a cottonmouth, copperhead. maybe a pigmy possably a canebreak and I dought you will find an eastern diamondback but they do range in all of those forests but are very rare. It depends on when you go. Allot of snakes will not be out of hibernation hear until mid week in March if the weather is suitable but April and May is your best bet to have a chance to see one. September and October are good months too. hope this helps
