"John, you'll never see firearms completely outlawed regardless of who is in office."
Tom, I agree that we will not see a "complete" firearm ban, however, I can see folks like Obama bringing back what Billy Boy Clinton attempted to do, when he tried to outlaw guns that did not have a "sporting" purpose. And Obama would bring it back in a far more restrictive form.
The anti gun folks would sure like to use the "sporting" definition to outlaw a huge number of firearms. Folks who own AR-15's, AK-47's, MP-3's, FNL and FNC's could all lose the right to keep those guns. And folks who have shotguns for home defense, that happen to have pistol grip stocks and extended magazine tubes would find those guns to be considered non-sporting and law enforcement use only. Folks who own Glocks, Brownings, or Berettas with "law enforcement" magazines that hold 18 rounds could lose that right also. Just go back in history and see what Billy Boy tried to do. History repeats itself. Except, this time it will be far worse, if folks elect the Marksist / Socialist to office !
The resent ruling by the Supreme Court that re-inforced the opinion that the Second Amendment of the US Constitution did allow individual citizens to own firearms passed 5 to 4 ! A very slight change to the Supreme Court with new appointments by a radical like Obama could tip the balance the other way. For the sake of future generations, you need to prevent a President who will appoint Socialist leaning Justices to the Supreme Court !!!!
We have seen the folks in Australia lose the right to keep handguns. All of the handguns in the country were melted down ! The liberals in the cities outvoted the folks who lived out in the country.
As a Life Member of the NRA, and a amature Gunsmith, I am not willing to allow any politition to attempt to outlaw any guns, based on trumped up statistics or trumped up definitions of sporting use.
This is unfortunatly not very related to Reptiles. However, it is related to individual Freedoms !
The same Freedoms that allow Reptile Keepers and Exotic Animal owners to keep the animals they wish !
These are the same Freedoms that allow Z to keep her pet Tigers and Lions out in the Nevada desert. The same Freedoms that allow folks in SC to keep venomous snakes. The same Freedoms that allow folks in Florida to keep (with a permit) venomous snakes.
Best Regards John Z

I don't disagree that we'll be seeing changes in gun control and laws...I think it's enevitable that changes will be made. Arms is a broad term that will more then likely be tightened up. Hell, it has tightened up over the years, and will probably tighten up even more. The days of guns that may be made automatic with the removal of a pin and sawed-off or riot shotguns may be a thing of the past.

To me it all comes down to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness," and I'm never happier than when I'm in pursuit of snakes!
