Hello All, we are heading out to Texas for the 3rd time in a year, but this trip will be in april. Do you fellows who know the Big Bend area think we stand a good chance of some night herping???I hope so, because it's the only chance i will get this year and I can't pass it up. Grey

Although I don't live in the Big Bend area, I do head out there two or three times a year. Although the best months are in May, June, September. I went last July and got an alterna last April near Barnhart. Chances are good you will atleast see something, and who could pass up the River Road? Happy Herping

i will be heading to big bend in april also, river road should be great herping. as someone else mentioned may is when the good herping starts. i got an alterna and a lepidus last june on 277(del rio area) as well as several subocs and emoryi. atrox are everywhere also. if you go around sanderson be sure to have a wildlife collection permit, i don't know the cost for out of state people, but in state it's around $20. the only things i got around big bend were a long nose, a desert king, and a trarntula. all were on 90 on the way back to del rio. didn't see a single snake around big bend, found a few atrox and one checkered garter between lajitas and presidio(river road).
