He was bitten on the hand and it hit a vein which caused the death. Any other time the bite would have been bad but no where near life threatening.

That is always a possibility, and every year folks are rapidly killed by snake bites that hit a artery or vein, however, there is still a lot of very strange statements in the "official" story, that sound like they should be investigated by someone outside of the Army.
Someone perhaps like the State Medical Examiner ?
Where is "Quincy M.E." when you need him ???
( Now I know I am really dating myself, LOL, because that show was on from 1976 to 1983 )
Or, perhaps "Columbo," LOL.
Best Regards John Z

I'm gonna have to call b.s. on this one. I'm not conspiracy theorist but come on...this is too fishy.

I have this personality flaw where I have to ask questions if something doesn't make sense. Which vien did the snake hit in the hand (cephalic or basal)? Also, one report says that he sat down under a tree where he was 'surely just about to push the button on his GPS to call for help'. That would have been the FIRST thing that I did.
Surely there is someone in a position to look at this and recognize that everything isn't adding up.

I think this is all just hilarious (with no disrespect to the dead intended).
In ANY OTHER STORY everybody would be all about the press not being able to get the facts correct.
But with this story, it must be the United States Army trying to cover something up or some other conspiracy.
I am sure the facts are available for anyone who contacts the right people at the base.
I am also sure that whatever the Public Relations Officer released to the press was cut and pasted to save space in a third rate article that made the "facts" implausible to anyone who knows snakes yet palatable to the general snake-hating public.
I am sorry for the soldier's family.
Truly a shame to lose a soldier in such a manner.
