anyone out there know at what age gaboon vipers become sexually mature? i have been keeping adults for a while, but i picked up a couple of yearlings from hamburg pa.last month, actully an eastern and western gaboon, and a sweet rhino(female) with one red and one blue eye.i am going to try and breed them all, and hopefully get a rhino/gabby cross. any pointers would be helpful, this will be my first breeding experiment.

Danny, it is more size than age. They can reach sexual maturity from 5 to 8 years old in the wild. You can push them to a larger size in captivity, and breed them at 4 years old, but pushed snakes will have a greatly shortened life span.
Let them grow at a slow and natural pace. In 5 years or so, they will be getting close to old enough.
Hope this helps.

Why would you want to? Where are you going to find homes for all that might be produced? Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I have to agree with Al on this one, as it is just the way I've always felt.
Of course, just an opinion.
Take Care.
