Does anyone know what might happen to the vipers if in the area where they are kept, the breeder smokes?

Depending on what the breeder smoked, it could help with appetite stimulation.

Snakes do have only 1 functioning lung and the carcinogenic materials in smoke, tobacco or other, will most likely be carcinogenic to reptiles as well. I say most likely because I am not sure any scientific research has been done on this, but I believe that saying it does is a pretty safe assumption or hypothesis.

I smoke, but outside the house only. I never smoke around my snakes. I'm sure some people do, but the effects can't be good.

The effects probably aren't good, but definately don't have to be bad. The anti-tobacco folks are almost as ridiculous as the AR folks. Primary use of smoking tobacco over MANY years is very bad and this is not arguable. Secondary exposure is very questionable about being a risk factor for anything. Removing the delivery system of the smoke and "dipping" makes tobacco a vegetable.
