That would depend upon a number of things. I assume that you didn't see the animal prior to the trade and you received the animal without inspection or otherwise you would not have been ripped off, correct? The first thing I would do is contact the individual with my concerns and see if it can be resolved that way, either by exchanging the original animals or substituting to one more to your liking. If they are not willing to do this, I don't know a whole lot more you could legally do. I know there a many things you might like to do (probably not legal)to get compensation of sorts but most of us are not in close enough proximity to carry out those actions and in reality have to much to lose to do those idiotic things that first come to mind when ripped off. I myself have been burned more times than I care to remember either by receiving the wrong animal, wrongly represented animal, wrongly sexed animal, and even not receiving an animal at all. The best way to avoid this is not to trade without seeing the animal first or to do business only with people you know and reputable dealers. It also isn't a bad idea to do an inquiry in another forum under their BOI prior to the trade and see if anyone has done business with this individual before. On this same forum you could also state why you thought you were ripped off and to warn others not to do business with this person. I don't know why our hobby is so full of unscrupulous individuals but I'm sure there are many stories to be told of deals gone bad. Definitely one of my pet peeves. If nothing else, take it as a lesson learned. Sometimes it is a very expensive lesson to learn. Hopefully that wans't the case for you. Good luck.

First, complete your profile....personally, any profiles w/out info should be deleted right away. I don't know if you are newbie but doing trades is always a very risky proposition (including breeding loans). Caveat emptor seems to be the ringing theme in this case....did you know this person personally? If not, did you at least ask for excellent references other than "My Uncle Billy Bob?" If not, you were a sitting duck and will probably just have to learn a painful, expensive but important lesson. Since you gave very little info its hard to say if you are at fault or the person you did the trade with. Either way, others should take note: if you are going to do a trade or breeding loan:
1) Put everything in writing - make sure its detailed, explicit and leaves no loopholes
2) Only deal with people you either know, or people who have come highly recommended by people you know.
3) If its someone you don't know, make sure you get references. No references, no deal.
4) Don't ship something until you get the animal first. that requires someone else to trust you. Or, find a place to meet to do the trade if that's possible. Another solution is to find a "middle person" who can broker the trade. I've seen it done and not a bad idea as long as the broker is an honest and legit person.
Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

Matthew, you should go to Fauna Classifieds and fill out a complaint about the dealer or individual involved. That might not help you get your money back, but it might help others to not get burned.
Also, if you used a credit card to purchase something from an established dealer, you should fill a fraud alert with the credit card company.
I think that Kingsnake also has a section where you can tell folks about a scammer.
AFTER you fill out the rest of your Profile here, you can put something in our Classifieds saying "so and so is a scammer" or similar.
Best Regards John Z
