Hey everybody,
I thought id let y'all know what happened to me yesterday.
I have a friend that I had not spoken to in about 6 months. This was just due to both of us being pretty busy with work and different things. He has always had a nice collection of venomous snakes, and a few non venomous.
Well, I called him yesterday to see if he had any venomous snake cages he wanted to get rid of. I was informed that he was getting rid of his entire collection due to him being bitten by a timber for the third time about a month ago. His wife said that was it they all had to go.
I then made the 2 hour trip to his house to see what he had left, and to hopefully come home with some new animals.
When i got there he still had quite a few animals left. Now for the sad part...
He had a cobra, I forgot exactly what it was but it was black and white. He had the cobra illegally. Since he had to get rid of it, and i couldnt take it, the snake went into the freezer. Also, a very old cottonmouth that was dieing went into the freezer.
Heres the good part....
I rescued everything else he had, 3 northern copperheads, 1 broad banded copperhead, a black rat snake, an okeetee corn snake, a ball python, 3 emperor scorpions, a cobalt blue tarantula, and a usambara tarantula. Also thrown in was a 6ft boaphile plastics cage for the burmese, and a bunch of other cages, a small deep freezer with approx. 300 frozen mice, 150 frozen rats of different sizes, and a bunch of frozen jumbo rabbits.
Since i live by myself, and it is very dangerous to have a burmese of that size by yourself, im gonna be making some calls today to a friend who runs the local museum. I plan on donating the burmese to the museum. They had one of roughly the same size that died last year due to some kind of bad infection.
I figured id share this with y'all
Have a good one!!!

I don’t understand why even if the snake was illegal u couldn’t have got rid of it to a zoo or something like kingsnake.com classifieds under adoptions there is never any reason that I see to kill any snake even if struck it still does nothing you are still envenomed and whatever was going to happen still is going to happen it doesn’t change anything I am just saying though illegal he still could have got rid of it with out getting in any legal trouble if he had kept it without problems he could have got rid of it without any problems that was a senseless death of two snakes though I wish we could we cant just go kill illegal immigrants and not only are they illegally here but taking our jobs, homes and government aid so how do u justify killing a illegal snake but the federal government cant justify killing illegal immigrants think about in my opinion not only was that a bad and careless move it was also cruelty to animals and that also is illegal I love all kinds of animals and see no sense in that kind of behavior I mean hell if u can do that and think its ok that means what the illegal aliens that take our jobs and everything else should just be taken out to a field and shot though I would agree with that it is still wrong and illegal all the same but since you see nothing wrong with taking innocent life’s why don’t you get on that for all of Americas sake

Im not the one who killed the snakes... he was. I didnt like it one bit, but i wasnt gonna take the snake illegally. I tried to talk him into giving it to a zoo, but he said there was no way that he was gonna run the risk of getting in trouble

ok for future reference if u ever know anyone with illegal snakes needing to get rid of them please contact me I will gladly save their life’s and find a safe and legal home for them this kind of behavior is what gives most animal owners that have to feed other animals to their animals the bad perception of being sadistic and cold hearted I do not agree with this kind of behavior and would not condone it I would have taken both out if still alive and tried to revive them and found a good safe legal home this is so wrong on many levels either ways let me know if you run in to this situation again I will gladly resolve it!

i have to agree personaly with teh toher 2 that if it came down to life or death for the snakes I would have taken them an tried to find them a home rather then allowed them to be put in a freezer to die...
Theres just no way I could or would have stood by an allowed that to happen even if it ment getting into a fight or alerting athorities if it came down to it. All be it with any hope neither of the two would have had to occur.
To me that just shows that he didn't have any true love for the animals to have done something so heartless. maybe i am wrong an he did care for them but its also not soemthing i would have done infront of anyone or told anyone about....

I thought y'all would be happy to know that the cobra is still alive. I went to his house today to pick up some cages that he gave me, and the snake was still there.
He said he couldnt bring himself to kill it. He also told me that there was someone he found who wanted the snake and he was gonna give it to him.
The cottonmouth on the other hand did go into the freezer. It was very very old and on its death bed.
It had started losing weight and it had no energy.
Y'all be good
Anthony
