John is right on this one.
There is a vast difference between someone asking us to identify a snake on their property and someone asking about keeping a snake.
Sometimes, people asking about snakes on their property are asked for more information to make it easier to ID the snake. This person told us that the snake is Costa Rican - really all we need.
If she had asked about husbandry and such, she would have been asked to fill in her profile.

Good point, John, and I think we should all distinguish between questions from snake people who are likely to become members, and non-snake people who are just looking for info or an answer to a question, such as the elementary school teacher who posted a good question a while back but was assaulted for not filling out her profile.
In my area, it's always young black rat snakes that are confused with either copperheads or rattlesnakes. From her description, I would definitely say that she has rat snakes, especially if she has found so many in her house, and if they are 10" long. It shows a lot of intelligence on this woman's part that she even knows they are great plains rats, and that she would seek advice here.

Z, I just saw your post on this thread and had to respond... are you kidding?? Our population is seriously imbalanced and challenged by a lack of females, and we could be in danger of becoming extinct unless we develop some means of asexual reproduction! Besides, doesn't every "venom man" have a dream of someday meeting a lady who loves snakes? Maybe we need to add a personals page: "Wanted: 0.1 Homo sapiens for captive breeding project...."
Maybe 0.2... go for a trio!
As a non-snake loving aquaintance once said in the course of dismissing my interest- "Why would you want to be into snakes? Women hate 'em."
(PS: persons taking this post too seriously need to get a humor transplant: apply leeches immediately).

A maried lady I know, she has like 40 plus non venomomous pet snakes, and it is her husband who has issues with them sometimes. So some snake loving women have the same problem, dealing with a partner who is not into snakes/exotics

You gotta watch that getting attached to snake food, Archie. It's happened to me before. Some rats are smarter than many people I know! I have a friend and musical collaborator, a really, really great singer named Molly Andrews, who has a pet rat. She won't even come to my house to practice.
