Cobra and the sleeping baby
2009/02/08
ARAU: Most of us would run for safety if we stumble upon a poisonous snake. Haliza Puat, 25, was no different.
She ran for her life when she saw the 4.7m king cobra in her living room of her house at Kampung Rambai, Padang Siding, yesterday.
In her panic, she left behind her one-month-old baby, Aznur Azzhari Asmizan, who was sleeping on a mattress in the living room just a few metres away from the reptile.
"I was so scared when I saw the snake that I forgot about my baby sleeping nearby."
Haliza was thankful the snake just slithered away and hid under a cupboard when she ran back to the house with her mother Che Bun Baharum.
The 15kg snake was captured by Ramadiah Hamid, 49, wife of snake charmer Zainuddin Ismail.
Ramadiah said she would keep the snake in her house to add to her husband's reptile collection.
