Everyone has had their say.
No-one was removed for anything in this thread.
One post was deleted for profanity.
Why would we remove you?
Nobody gets removed for no reason.

I too got hit up by the lreptiles in....South America? or something and some idiot from Camaroon. I just ignored them, though it's frustrating to have to deal with it. I can understand wanting to call them vulgar things in a public forum, but it's bad form too.
I get so tempted to write back with a nastygram, but usually just delete it and try to ignore them.
I was going to post a "Notice", but even then figured it wasnt necessary, it should be obvious they're scammers.

Tom, although it should be obvious that a person is a scammer, they are getting a lot better at posting (posing).
They have learned to fill in the Profile, and often post photos stolen from other sites. And, they often appear to have US EMail and Street addresses.
And unfortunatly, some folks think that if a ad appears on this site, that it is legitimate.
Folks, if a classified ad appears to good to be true, then it is too good to be true. Do not send them your money. You will not recieve any animals from them.
And please post a warning here by starting a new thread, or notify one of the site managers about suspicious ads. Even though Karl, Al, the other site managers, and myself check the ads several times a day, there will always be some that slip by. That "Clair" person would post new ads just about as quickly as we could take them down.
Use caution folks. Having money lost to a scammer is a hard way to learn a lesson.
Best Regards

And Semper vigilantes ! The scammers are out there, and are always looking for new folks to prey upon.
It turns out that Dr. Clara of platypus fame, and Dr. Kelly of piebald / ghost python and Alligator fame are one and the same person, as many of you have suspected.
The computer they "both" use has been traced to Camaroon, and they have been banned from this site.
However, they will morph, and they will be back, with another story designed to trick folks.
I hope that none of the folks here sent money to the crooks. If you did, then it is a hard lesson learned.
The crooks are using better English, and building better stories, and posting better photos all the time. They are even using instant messaging.
Look at it this way, if one of them scams you out of $250.00 for some ball python, they have made in one day the average annual income for a person in Camaroon. So, they have a lot of incentive.
And, what makes this even more interesting, is that they are probably using a old computer supplied to them by American missionaries, or UN workers, with training supplied to them by the same missionaries or UN workers.
Be carefull out there folks.
Best Regards

Geez Louise,
Despite the ridiculous demands that some folks put on the moderators of this site, and, some of the bad apples that lurk here (the person making the original post is not one of them...I just think he big time overreacted to his post being deleted and it should have been deleted), it's amazing that this site is as good as it is. That's because of the talented, knowledgeable, and dedicated staff who make this site what it is. Someone said it's a laughingstock on Repticon?...now that's hilarious.
Bottom line is that the moderators do one heck of a good job weeding out the profanity laced tirades that people try to post so that school kids can come here to get excellent information w/out being exposed to bad language (something that schools do not tolerate). I recommend it to students but the first time I see the "F" word, I will no longer be recommending it. Karl did the right thing by yanking the post and taking a hard stand on that crap.
And for those stupid enough to get taken by a scammer, as Fred said, Caveat Emptor. Folks, if you are buying from someone you don't know, do your homework. I actually find the scammer ads to be quite entertaining!
